Hi everybody! Just joined. I’m retired from Electric Boat. Used to build attack subs for the the Navy. I’m going to make an overland build of my ZJ. The goal being to go coast to coast on the Trans America Trail. Anyone else tried it or done that? My Jeep is pretty stock so I’m starting from scratch. Would really like to hear from people.

Welcome Grant! Retired fast attack sailor here, walked up and down that hill at EB far too many times!
Thats a cool objective, I appreciate builds with a purpose. Good luck!

best starting point is to get the ZJ running correctly first, then long arms are the beast way to go :)
Depending on what model or engine you have just take care not to overload the rear axle if its fitted with a Dana 35 as they can have problems if pushed too far past their design point :)
Look forwards to seeing your build progress :)
