First off holy crap this forum has died a quick death.

I was selling a 00 WJ limited 4.0 to a coworker, got into it, started it up but the shifter wouldn’t move from park.....turned it on and off and still nothing. Let it run for a while an hour later and it shifted no problem. I know every Jeep I’ve ever had (20 or so) had an audible click when the brake switch would engage but whether this shifts or not there is no click. Full range of motion with the steering wheel. Also tried Turning key slowly to see if there was a point I could release the shifter and start in N, no dice.

any help would be awesome

The click is the safety releasing, so that you can't accidentally shift into drive, without your foot on the brake.....i.e. little kid bumping the shifter.
