First you locate these under the kick panel on the drivers side. Purple and yellow wire. (sorry for the fuzzy pic)

Then you take one of these.

Attach it like this. One end to the purple/yellow wire and the other to the black wire (Ground).

PRESTO Security System Bypassed. This is also the same way for XJ's.

I figured with more and more ZJ's and XJ's going the way of Chuggy, this could be a problem with the super complex wiring of our Heeps. I sure know that once I cut the top off mine and got rid of all the doors and hatch that there just wasn't any way to reset it after I disconnected the battery and reconnected it.

THANK YOU!!! I owe you a Keg! :D I swear I have tried everything and it still wouldn't bypass the fuggin' thing. Hmm, curious to see if disconnecting this harness disables any other function. I'll post back in a couple hours.

No sweat man. I know it gave me fits. A buddy of mine pointed it out and presto it worked like a charm.
So what about the rest of the wires in the harness? I am still slightly confused if I lose all the other functions as well? Would there be a way to ground that wire w/o losing other functions?

Well you do not "have" to connect it to the black wire. It just happens to be a convienent ground. You can use any ground.

You could splice a switch into those purple wires with the other side of the switch grounded. That way you could turn your alarm on and off......

Oh and you do not need to leave the purple wires grounded. Once you ground them the alarm is reset and you can "unground the purple wires".

Hope this is helping.

Alaska ZJ - Alarm Bypass Help please

Alaska ZJ,

The pics that you posted on this write-up do not show up on my PC.

I know where the purp/yellow wire is. Now the question is, do you simply ground the purp/yellow wire to any ground? Or does that purp/yellow wire have to be spliced? In other words, is that wire completely cut and just grounded. Sorry for the re-post, but the illustrations do not show up.

Write it out for me, if you could please. It seems simple, and from what you wrote, I just want to make sure I'm understanding it correctly. Thanks.

Sorry for the pics boys. The place that was hosting them purged them for some reason. They are most likely lost forever.

No you don't have to cut the wires. Just ground them

The wires are easy to find. They are under the kick panel on the drivers side. There are two of them purple with a yellow tracer. Either one will work. Just ground them in some way (you would wire a toggle switch Inline with one of them if you wanted to get all fancy about it) and your good to hook.

this may be a stupid question, but how do I ground without cutting the wire(s)? let me know...I'm not the best electrical guy. thanks.

My alarm is activating for no aparent reason and will not let me start the jeep. Then the alarm starts going off and I just put the key in the door and turn it off and then it will start. I am about to do this bypass I will post if it works for my purposes. I don't need the alarm anyway.

Well there doesn't seem to be a purple and yellow wire under the kick panel of my 95 I guess that is different that year. Here is the pic under mine

I don't know what these relay lookin things are for.

You issue could be a bad battery

I have a '95 as well, and I want to disable the alarm. Have you found out which wire to disable on the '95? Is there any other way to disable it. Is there a relay or alarm module that can simply be removed?

My 93 ZJ was also plagued with Alarm System quirks. It would sound off every time the car was parked.

I seem to have bypassed the Alarm by removing the #6 fuse. Still allows use of the remote to lock and unlock the doors, and the 'Security' dash light still illuminates, but the Alarm System is inactive.

You have the ignition lockout occur (when you start the jeep, it starts but quickly dies) problem?

If you did, when you removed the #6 fuse did it work... I've been experiencing massive problems with being locked out because of my security system. I've had to disconnect the battery and leave it disconnected for 20 minutes to temporarily bypass the problem (and allow it to restart) but the problem keeps re-occuring.

#6 fuse. Hmm, I'll test that too. The deactivate switch on the driver's door lock went bad. So, when you use the key to unlock, guess what? Deactivates just fine with the IR remote, but sometimes the range of that reduces to 2 feet, maybe if I leave the windows down I can get that remote within range to reliably unlock the beast.

i have the exact same problem. i have to unlock mine from the passenger side because my drivers side sets the alarm off.
