i just recently put on my 3.5" RE lift w/ stock control arms and 32" tires. it rides pretty stiff and the steering is still pretty loose even with my steering stabalizer. but i guess thats the price you have to pay until you can get a good long arm system.

UCA ripped off

i had to go to 4 wheel parts in oakland today to find out that my UCA mounts had pulled right out of the frame....i guess its just a good reason to get a RE4.5" long arm lift. i had a 3" procomp. there is just too much tension on the uni-body where the frame mounts are. that part of the frame is really week.

did you get that 3.5" by RE springs or f>r?

If your asking me, no it is a pieced together lift that I got used from a member on here. I believe they are teraflex fronts and procomp rears with 3/4 spacers to level rear. All other components are stock (except shocks).

well i'm at 6.5" in the rear with all stock components just a RE track bar braket and i'v notched the axle side CA mounts now i can drop coils.

so if i were to put 3.5" coils and my 2" bb i have now all on stock control arms, would that be stupid?
Generally speaking, 4.5" is the maximum you'll want to lift your short arm rig if you want to maintain a "close to stock" amount of ride quality. Every inch you add, above say 2.5", exponentially hurts the overall ride quality and the highway tracking due to the angularity of the control arms. You can still get away with over 4.5" and not have it be UNSAFE, but honestly, when I had 6" of lift on my short (adjustable) arm setup, I really didn't like to drive the thing. Now, after going to long arms, the fun is back again, and I drive it a lot more. At around 5" you begin to "skateboard" a little when you get a side wind or the road is poorly paved, particularly if you're not running a rear sway bar. Add an inch to that, and you're REALLY "skateboarding" quite a bit.

So, to answer your question: Stupid?...no, but I'd recommend strongly against it because of the ride quality and the poor highway tracking that you'll notice.
