I have a 98' ZJ with 5.2 V8. I belive the tranny is the 44RE, I had a tranny service done a few months ago and recently I checked the fluid and it is over filled, checked it in park engine running after 45 min. drive so it was at normal temp. The fluid is above the Z bend on the dipstick. Tranny is starting to act funny somewhat of a slip going into 2nd gear. Also takeing off from a light pedel floored after 2nd gear engages if I let off the gas a bit the tranny acts like it kicks down to 1st gear then back to 2nd gear real quik ANY SUGGESTIONS?? and the tranny is starting to leak. Front seal I belive drops of tranny fluid at front of bellhouseing. Wondering if I drop the tranny pan to drain it and change the fluid should I put a bottel of Lucas no slip tranny additive in with the Mopar A/T +3 fluid, will the Lucas no slip HARM the tranny, I've heard some people say the 44RE is real sensitive to the fluid you use. Please inform me on doos and don'ts to my problem and on the Lucas NO slip. Thanks Jason

I did the tranny service today,I put 1 bottel of Lucas NO slip-stop leak tranny additive in and topped it off with Mopar ATF + 4 fluid recommended by Jeep dealer. That took care of my problem tranny does not leak anymore and shifts into 2nd gear like a new tranny. Lucas NO slip is GOOD stuff,it lowers the fluid temp also. Lucas NO slip is recomended for vehicels that do alot of towing, hard driven vehicels, works great.

I noticed that today when I did the service. Your right it says check in neutral. I did that when I filled it today got it filled right on the full mark. It took 5 quarts + the Lucas NO slip bottel.
