I hope that nobody minds if I post these pictures. I have a new snorkel Idea. Well, I was looking at AlaskaZJ's snorkel and I liked how you could attach it when you wanted leave it off when drove most of the time. So it got me thinking, what if you could attach the snorkel to the side, just like the snorkels that are out there. I thought you could still use your stock intake, just put somekind of removable piece that blocks where the air comes in, and put tubing that goes out the side and connects to a cap. The inside would look something like this,

From there I was thinking of using a gas cap assembly from a TJ or YJ, you could even still use the door that covers the cap. That would still keep the fender clean, even with the cap. It could look something like this. Sorry for the quality.

Im sure you could make a screw on attachment that goes into the gas cap, from there you would attach the snorkel, that way it wouldn't matter what it looked like because you could attach it for trail runs. this might be what it could look like.
