So I've had XJ's TJ's MJ's (my favorite btw) and just about every other jeep except ZJ's and JK's. I found a 5.9L ZJ for under 4k with 100k miles (hawaii so add 50k) and I need to know what to look for? My XJ it was non stop electrical issues to the point I didnt even get to enjoy it. My MJ there was... nothing. Just didnt have A/C and I'm moving to Oklahoma soon.

If I do pick it up I plan on lifting it 7ish inches slapping a ford 8.8 rear end and some 35's. Making it as water tight as possible w/ a NP231 then taking it crawling all over Oklahoma.

So motor red flags? I know the 249 will most likely be shot. Electrical issues? Common rust areas? Common places the frame will crack or warp? Leaks (rear main seal?) and what not? Thanks folks and hopefully I can move over here from NAXJA as great as they've been.
 
Seems like 1 out of 3 owners with a 5.9 will tell you they have had overheating issues, many have non-functioning heated seats, and most will have torn leather seats. Oh, and they only run on premium unleaded. Plus if it has a sunroof you are almost guaranteed it will leak.

Thanks that's exactly the stuff I was thinking of. Is there any problems with the head gasket blowing? I'm not too worried about gas since we will be off this island soon and gas prices are much cheaper in the states lol.

So flush the radiator and cooling system, check the thermo and fan as soon as I get it. Prob wouldn't hurt to put a new radiator cap on it either.
