good job - smart job onthe jack stands! too many people forget
Thanks! And yup, I dont use ramps, just drive it up there, thats a lot of stress on the ball and coupler without jack stands. Seen people pick the back end of the truck up before. haha. im waiting to see one pop off and destroy a tailgate.

one of my side jobs is Farm mechanic - one of the trucks as a caved in rear bumper because the tractor driver did not put the jackstands down on the trailer. Plus they tore the trailer plug out. Had to rewire the trailer plug.
The owner took the repair cost that I charged out of the tractor drivers wage =)

looks great man, have you measured your tounge weight yet? personally i would rid myself of that damn bumper mounted ball, its all kinds of bad things waiting to happen, i would get a receiver hitch IMO, and that single strap on on each axle thing you have going on there, i would double strap both ends, just for safety reasons.

No haven't measured it. I just play with how much it squats the truck to get it where it needs to be. I can adjust it to where its almost none, or a ton. Watching the equalizer work on the trailer suspension is pretty cool.

As far as the bumper ball, I was TOTALLY suprised when I bought the truck. I saw it and was like, "great, im gonna rip the bumper off". But Dodge actually did great things with it. Theres a seperate crossmember behind the bumper and the ball actually attaches to it, and sticks through the bumper. Its actually the same crossmember the hitches bolt to.Its better than having all the towing force on the bumper bolts ya know? My friend down the street has the same truck, but with the hitch. They sell the hitch for $90

http://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Hitch/Dodge/Ram+Pickup/2006/V82861.html?vehicleid=2006301713,

All it does it bolt on to the same crossmember mine is using. The added benefit is you can put different drop hitches on it, and arent stuck with one height and one ball like the bumper.

Ill get one some day. lol.

As far as the straps go. Yeah, i'll be doing two more, with the actual axle straps. But for what I was doing, two 10,000 straps were plenty. Figure, trans in park, e-brake on, its not going anywhere, add 2 10k straps, its really not going any where. Its flat as can be here in AL, once I get back west and doing mountain passes, it'll be 4 for sure.

Yea, I had to make a trade off. My tires were BALD, and its spring time and I needed to go wheeling this season. I found these for an UNBELIEVABLE deal, with 4 aluminum weld racing wheels. Got rid of the rims and ran these, Although they are only 33's. =( oh well, they will definitely get used, and until I get stationed somewhere else next year, they will do great down here in AL. But seriously, I paid $100 for 4 rims and tires that had never seen pavement, you cant beat that, even if i did go from 35's down to 33's.

Not a bad score, but boggers and ground hawgs? Ewwwwwwwwwwwww, I'm pinching pennies for kevlars personally, discount is gonna go into convulsions when I bring my pile in.
Correction. Boggers and Maxxis :p Not ground hawgs. Hahah But still. Yup, for $100, you wont hear my complain. Getting engaged soon and the $$$ is all going towards that. I needed something to run on. By the time I PCS next I want some 36s on it.

Yup it is. I went to Warrant Officer School last April and am going through Flight School Now.
Are you going to be flying OH-58's or have they told you yet? I spent most of my time in aviation working with the fuel systems on rotary-winged aircraft, was working my way toward the 160th SOAR when a career ending accident changed all of that.

I fly a th-67 right now (Bell 206). Its a civilian model of the OH-58D.Im learning insturments as we speak.

I was a Uh-60 Crew Chief before this, and hope to fly blackhawks again.
IFR can be a pain but I'm sure you are aware, good luck. Are you hoping for a support, combat, or medivac unit? One of my favorite parts of annual training was watching the night live-fire exercises with the Apache Longbows, few things can compare to the excitement of watching things blow up at night.

So after 4 years I finally got around to replacing the track bar end. I had a heim joint on it before. Damn thing was always squeaking offroad, and lately had begun to POP when turning on the street. I ordered up a Currie Johnnie joint and swapped it out. Cant wait to test it out.
