"you break it we'll replace it warranty"
that right there is worth the price IMO.
I'm running those shafts and don't regret paying "extra" for a minute. Here are two things to consider:
1) Other chromo shafts are still running regular U-joints -- which are known to be a weak point -- especially a full steering lock. (of course the internals are also always a weak point with chromo shafts). Sure u-joints are easy to replace, but a broken u-joint can also take out the ears of the shaft (which means you will need to put in a stock shaft and warranty your chromo shaft). An upgrade to CTM u-joints will almost guarantee you against shaft/ujoint breakage, but given the price of CTMs, you are at a higher price than the RCVs.
2) RCV is honestly the only company I trust to warranty their shafts in a reasonable amount of time at this point. They make their shafts in house, so even if they don't have any in stock, they can make them on demand and not have to wait for a shipment. I ordered my shafts before they were officially "finshed" designing them and given how they pounded out my shafts and overnighted them to me just so I could get to Big Dogs, I don't doubt for a second that the turnaround time for replacement shafts/CVs would be reasonable.
Other companies have been known to take forever to honor their warranties. Alloy USA is owned by some other company now and I don't even know if they warrant the shafts. Superior has been known for very long wait times (months) on warranted parts. I know nothing about Nitro or 10 factory and how good they are with turnaround times on warranties.
That said, regular u-jointed chromo shafts are proven to work much better than stock, so it's up to you whether the extra expense is worth it.
