How is the fit? Any challenge in going from the prototype to production? Looks pretty amazing.

The fit is really nice. It follows the body and lights very close. My buddy saw it yesterday, and now that its powdercoated, he said it looks factory.

Not really. Just had to build a fixture for it, so they come out exactly the same each time. The biggest challenge was figuring out which method to use to weld the outside, so grinding the seams wouldn't take forever. Now that we have that figured out, they are coming along really nicely.

Thanks!

mhamilton3,

Here is a couple pictures of the grill guard we finished, so you can see how it looks. Keep in mind, this was custom, so we can make it however you want it.

Looks really good.

Has the custom brush guard version been fitted to a vehicle yet? How is the fit between the up tubes and the sides of the headlights? From the pics it looks like it will be really tight.

I am sooo close to pulling out a credit card! :)

Damn! I knew i forgot something. I never got a pic of it mounted up. Those tubes on the corners are very close to the lights and fender.

You can see in this pic. The tube is placed on the corner flush with the outside edges of the bumper, and there is just enough room for the 1 3/4" dia tube.

That first pic looks like it should be a weapon in a Batman movie!

I can't wait for mine to get here. Already picked up some ProComp 55s for the installation.

Mike,

Yours is almost finished. We ran out of the finishing disks we use to clean up the welds, but yours should be shipping mid to late next week. We just need to do some more clean up, send it to sandblast, and get it powdercoated for you.

Thanks!

No worries. I wasn't complaining at all, I'm just always excited when new toys are on the way. :)

I have to drive to Pheonix on business in December so if I had half a brain then I would have just waited and picked it up in person.

But I just couldn't wait (and I don't have half a brain).

Besides, this way I can order a KOR roof rack and pick it up in December and end up with both.

I know how it is. That's why i gave you the update.

I couldn't have waited for December either... i had to drive around a few months with no bumper, and it was killing me, knowing how good the new one would look.. But it was worth all the work. I am just glad I was able to share it with fellow WJ enthusiasts!

Yeah.. they are moving pretty well actually. Thanks! The next one will be a rear bumper for the WJ to match, and then on with the others.

A rear?!

Please tell me that it will look as good as the front AND have a swing away capable of handling a decent sized spare.

Man, it is like you are reading my mind and developing everything right before I commit to trying to fab it myself!

yup.. that is the plan.. to look similar to the front, have same features, specs etc, and hold a up to a 37" spare (smaller tires will fit too) that swings away easily, and doesn't make any noise. I am just not sure where to mount the tire exactly. Middle, off to the side, straight up and down, on and angle.. etc etc.. ???
