I have a wj and im looking for a beefy front bumper for it, i don't want one with a winch mount, i don't need a winch (everyone i wheel with has them) I love the icelandoffroad.com bumper but they only have them for ZJ's so far, and that doesn't do me any good. Any suggestions for a similar looking bumper? I am having the hardest time finding one.

The Icelandoffroad website has been updated, so... new pics!!! they have a FEB date for the bumpers, and the WJ flares have arrived!!! I gotta get sum of those flares, they look sweet! I don't know about the steel bumper they are offering, it looks sweet, but I liked the idea of saving some weight with the fiberglass one, just have to wait till Feb...

The Steel bumper that Iceland has for sale, allthough it looks awesome and is a winch mount, it's friggin' heavy! I think you will feel the weight when you drive. I talked to a guy that has one on his WJ and he had to add 1" spacers to the front springs to make up for the sag. that sux. I know everyone wants beef for the bumper, but then when you bolt that 3/16" or 1/4" or 1/2" steel bracket up to the stamped and folded sheet metal frame of the WJ, really what are you doing? it's crazy! I am holding out for the fiberglass bumper, Iceland should have pics up next week. it still has a winch mount, but will weigh more like 65# instead of 200#... they have rock sliders and flares for the WJ already! they look good!

Have you really researched the weights you listed?? ...LOL

yeah, WJ parts are hard to find, and since the economic thing is going south, I expect more than a few manufacturers will discontinue what they got for the WJ... but I have a WJ! and I want to do sum stuff, so I'm trying to research as much as pos. before I buy. I don't have tools or time to build, but I am watching another thread on this awesome bumper being built, it looks great. but again, he has time and tooling. My main concern is weight. I built a '91 YJ and it's awesome, but it weighs more than my F-150 right now! I have to do something about all the steel and tuffy boxes and crap that I have welded in and bolted on. I understand the 'bulletproof' concept very well, most of my wheeling is rock crawlin' out in JV, Stoddard Wells, Panamints and Calico... but I am wondering why I have such beefy steel bolted onto the stamped steel plates of the frame, w/ 1/2 " bolts! it's completely over built, and too heavy.

and yeah, I have researched those weights, steel bumper w/tube stinger, it's a lot of steel and then you powder coat it and bolt a winch to it... and then put on a sythetic line to save weight right?

hey I'm not saying a heavy steel bumper is wrong, I have 'em on my YJ and bash them all the time, but my WJ is a DD and I like to go 80+ mph because I can... I don't want to turn it into a brick.

nothing wrong with fiberglass sure your not going to plow through trees or anything with it...it light weight its strong you get a hole in it you can patch it up...it wont rust, you get better approach angle and in most cases the fiberglass will pop right out and back to shape..

IMO i like the look of the bumper but i don't like the overall width of it...its obviouse that its made to go with the flares...i want to see a picture of the bumper on a WJ without the flares...and the same thing with the flares...a picture of a WJ with a factory bumper and there flares...
