Weekends in May update

If the KOTH race is on the 15th, besides some extra rigs on the trails and campers, what would be the difference from any other non-holiday weekend?

Well. if they have a huge turn out on friday, a lot of people may stay to wheel on sat and sun, which means waiting in line to access trails, congested trails ect. Its not bad, just everything takes longer than and its not just our group having a good time. If it comes down to you folks want to still go that weekend, I don't have a problem with it, just figured another weekend wil be less packed. I need to avoid mothers day weekend and figured memorial weekend was out(I can't make that either). So let me know what every one thinks.
THANKS!!

I was just wondering, I've really only ever been to RC when it was a Jeff Daniel's Jeep Day and there was a group of say 40-50 JD's rigs and 5 or so H2s as well, so there was NO waiting at all.

Cool getblown, I hope to get to one of the JD crews RC trips this summer or fall. I was at the JD show in Sept, it was awesome!!

im in for anything.....pick a weekend and im good...my 95 is ready for anything....

KOH at Rausch Creek.

Rausch Creek will be closed all day May 15, 2009, for KOH East Coast qualifying runs. The park should be open as normal on the 16th and 17th. I can talk with the management at RC, on the weekend for Feb 21/22, at the Harrisburg Motorama show. I will be displaying my rig as part of the competitors for the 2009 RCRocs competition.

I will find out more about KOH also, to see if the park will be open that evening for people to get in and setup for the race. I will probably be taking off on the 15th from work in order to help out at the park. I was a judge last year for the RCRocs and WEROC events held at RC.

BigD if you could get us some info on that weekend, that would be great. I am just afraid the park will be packed from people staying to wheel that weekend after the comp on friday, this typically is the case. I was hoping to find a weekend that would be less crowded so that we could take our time and enjoy our day(s) there, but if no one has a problem going that weekend, or wants to go see the comp on friday and then wheel on the weekend maybe we will still go. Thanks for your help!!!!! Keep us posted!

Here is the Press Release for KOH at Rausch Creek. The park will be closed al day Friday and open on Saturday/Sunday as normal. So expect bigger crowds.

May 2 - is RCROCS competition #1 for 2009 - This is their Amatuer Rock Crawling Series/Competition - All Day Saturday, so I'm out to wheel this weekend with GSNE as I will be competing with my Grand in the Class 1 competition.

June 13 - is RCROCS competition #2
June 26-28 WEROC at Rausch Creek

For Immediate Release:

Rausch Creek Off-Road Park will host the first regional qualifier for the 2010 King of the Hammers. The endurance race will be held Friday May 15th, 2009 at the Tremont, PA motorsports facility.

"We are looking forward to showcasing our terrain and providing an opportunity for the racers to go fast on the East Coast", said Bruce Shallis, one of the park's co-owners.

Jeff Knoll of Hammerking Productions added, "The partnership with Rausch Creek allows us to bring our unique style of endurance racing to a whole new audience and gives racers from across the country an opportunity to qualify into the 2010 race."

The top 10 finishers at Rausch Creek will earn automatic entry into the 2010 running of KOH, "The Ultimate Desert Race".

The King of the Hammers, first run in 2007, is a blend of the most extreme off-road racing disciplines. Set in Johnson Valley, CA (Home of the Hammer Trail system), racers navigate open desert, dangerous hill climbs, narrow ridges, and some of the most extreme rock canyons in the country.

Rausch Creek Off-Road Park, founded in 2003 provides 1,700 acres of challenging terrain, offering trails from mild dirt roads to near vertical rock canyons. It is open year round for patrons to enjoy all it has to offer.

The race, the first of several KOH qualifying opportunities, will be at least 50 miles of grueling rock and trails connected by long stretches of high speed wheel to wheel racing.

Stay tuned for more information as the live coverage of the 2009 KOH on 2/27/09 at 8:00 AM PST.

Ok now what for a weekend??

Ok magnum, so what are our options for weekends now?

Well guys, this is up to us!! So what do we want to do?? Do we want to go check out the competition and then wheel that weekend with whoever else is there for the weekend?? Obviously Rausch is going to be hoppin with anyone who plans on competing May 2nd and May15th, trying to get to know the park! So what does every one think?? Let hear it!

I don't want to say screw anybody becuase they can't wheel that weekend becuase of a holiday or something mainly because there are only about a dozen of us who have even posted up interest. I'd say throw up a new poll with weekend dates exactly and see what interest we get.

I have to sit down with the calander and RC events and come up with some dates and do just that!

When you get that, then we'll have an answer on a specific date that will attract the most club memebers and set up times on that date:)

My suggestion would be as follows if you want a weekend in May. May 16-17, even with the KOH Qualifier on Friday, and the possible extra traffic, I think it would be less troublesome than to go on the weekend of the 2nd, when they have the local Amateur competition.

I'm not saying this only because I'd like to wheel with all of you, but the local competition has 4 classes, with up to 25 contestants each, that's 100 rigs alone, plus spectators, volunteers, park staff, vendors, etc...., and a large amount of those people also stay and wheel the next day if they can.

If you wait until the weekend of the 16th, while you have all of that there on the 15th for the KOH qualifier, figure a max of maybe 25 - 30 rigs entered. Most of the vendors, sponsors, and others will be gone by Saturday afternoon, which will leave more openings for the rest of us, for Saturday and Sunday.

Just my .02 cents.

Why don't we just say, becuase May won for chosen or most popular month, that we start a new thread for fine tuning and supply the two possible weekends in May. No?
