So my pump is weeping, but not constantly or all the time.

How long can i prolong fixing the seal? I think this is the original pump and never has been fixed, or replaced.

I have to fill up the resovior every month and a half.

what to do?

thanks!

well, i will take a stab at this. As long as you feel comfertable knowing that at any time you will jack up your pump and leave yourself with a engine *****uped. 35 bones and some basic mech skill will solve the prob. Yes its easier to replace the fluids, but you just don't know when the pump is going to fail. Add 25 or so and replace the hoses, antifreeze and thermo, and its "all good"

I agree with "Hamsamich". Mine was doing the same thing. I chose to go ahead and replace it. $33 for the pump, $5 thermostat, $5 for some antifreeze and she was good to go, not to mention that she ran about 15 degrees cooler after I was done. Was worth the peace of mind knowing that she wouldnt leave me stranded. Coincidentally, my buddys xj had the same problem and he let it go. First thing it did was start making noise and a few days later he was left stranded on the roadside with a pool of coolant under his truck. Good luck..

P.S. If you opt to do her yourself, make sure you get everly last bit of old gasget off where the old pump was, as well as the area around the thermostat housing. Leave just a little and she'll leak, leak, leak.

Was this an Autozone pump? How long has it been in there now? How well has it been behaving?

Change it, I went about two miles before it gave. I was 2hrs from home from the road, and an hour on the trail. Started to leak somewhere on the trail, I was told it should make it about 100miles. I went another 1/2 mile and it dumped. Took a lot of stops to get home. Change it.

My $0.02
