ATC or standard manual HVAC system. Could be a vaccum leak on any number of the hoses on the engine that then leads to a lack of vaccum to hold the doors in place when vaccum drops like under exceleration and other things. My ZJ has a bit of a vaccum leak in the charchol canister part of the system and I get some of this under excel myself. Need to track it down this summer if possible.... But if manual standard system one or more of your HVAC doors are swinging back and forth from the proper position as vacumm comes and goes....

Thanks for the link there. Perhaps some of us could use a proper fitting univeral check valve since most of our rigs are now certainly out of warrentee??? And even if some of you aren't getting the entire change from this vent to that, I think at times there is enough of a small leak in most of these systems to change the outside, inside blend and start letting in ourside air when not wanted enough to keep AC from being as cold as it could be and letting in other things from the outside as well. So I might suggest a check valve for all of us manual HVAC WJ'ers... Thanks again for the link. That is a great source... Need to check there more often...

I don't know about the WJ's. My ZJ used to do that and I took out the battery and there is a small black box beneath the battery tray that is hooked into the Vacuum system. It was cracked and had some holes. I sealed it all up with some RTV and ...

Problem solved.
