Ok, my parents are allowing max 2 inches of lift. I went to rocky-road.com, and I can get 4 OME shocks and 4 OME springs for $496. I have heard alot of nice things about OME, so I thought I should stick with em. Will there be benefits to this setup compared to a 2"/1.75" spacer setup with some different shocks? I am getting BFG 31x10.5s in 2 weeks, so I really need to get going on getting this thing up. Shocks are a big concern, too. I want something that will travel far enough to do some good flexing, but maintain a nice ride. Any suggestions? I will worry about quick discos and rock sliders later, right now I need this thing up higher. And should I get a steering stabalizer, right away? I had an 89 jeep that shimmys on the highwat at random just because we put some bfgs on it...

oh, and for those who run OME springs right now, do you net 2 inches on your V8, or do you need to add some spacers to reach 2"? Someday I would like to get an arb bull bar, so I would like to maintain 2" in front after adding that and my engine's factor.

I don't know of any advantages to getting OME springs instead of spacers. I ran a BB on my ZJ for a few months with my stock shocks and was more than pleased with the ride and handling. If I were to do it again, I'd probably go with the BB just for cost reasons. As for the OME quality, I'm running them now with the RE4.5 and am very pleased.

Flex of my OME springs vs. stock was tremendous. I don't see how having the same springs (stock), just spaced 2" away from the vehicle, would flex much better than now spacers if at all.
I'm running OME springs w/ 2" spacers right now and am sitting at nearly 3" of lift after about 2 years of sag and severe off-road use. I can flex far better than any other 3" lift manu. I've seen except RE.
I'm running HD OME springs up front to compensate for the bull bar/winch combo and I have I6 motor. Standard springs rear. After break-in it sits nearly level. You could toss in some smaller spacers to "adjust" your ride height, or spring (no pun intended) for ACOS.
I'd recommend doing their HD springs all the way around. Toss the factory rubber spacers and only put in your 2" pucks which is what I did.
If you can acquire the capital go for LT OME shocks, JKS adjustable track bars, and JKS Quicker Discos. You'll go nuts. ;)

now If I goto a local auto-shop, will they know what kind of shock I will need for my GC at a 2" lift so it wont bottom out or overextend when I flex? If they probably likely don't, what model of the LT OME shocks should I ask them to give me? Or is this something where shipping isn't so much a problem and I should get online?

If you [only] do their springs, ditch the factory spacers, toss 2" packers on top you probably won't need their LTs, although if price difference isn't bad then definitely go the LTs. I'm running this setup w/ standard length shocks and 0 problems. The LTs will come in handy when 6 months from now you decide you need a 12" long arm lift and 38" tires.
P/Ns (I think) should be N39 and N40 for standard length shocks, N39L and N40L for the LTs. Find a local 4x4 shop who can spell OME and they can look up the P/N for you. Might compare mail/Internet order vs. local shop. Not sure I'd trust an "auto-shop" to start slinging fine quality off-road parts in your vehicle. Also look into their SD40 steering stablizer.
If they have come out with newer or different ride shocks for the ZJ I'm unaware.
When you do this stuff, IMMEDIATELY go and get a front end alignment. Do nothing else before this.

Call Dirk @ DPG Offroad (316) 776-9900 or visit www.dpgoffroad.com They have great prices for OME and Dirk knows his Jeeps very well. I got my lift from him.

Edit: I'm at KU and the guys right across from me lived in Soiux Falls, SD. Any chance you know anyone named Nick Z or Barta??

Rocky Road's price is a little better than DPG Offroad. Not by much, but enough that I went through Rocky Road.

And if you're at KU, there's a good chance that any of the Burger Kings you eat at are owned by my grandparents.

Actually, I moved to Sioux Falls about 2 months ago, so I have not gotten the chance to meet any fellow jeepers. My origional plan was to go with rocky-road, so tell me what you think about this setup: go with 2" spacers, and install the OME LTs and keep my stock springs. Then I'll go for some JKS quicker discos and kevins rock sliders. Then someday ill upgrade to OME, and toss out the factory spacers. Is there any importance for an adjustable trackbar if I stay around the 2" arena? Thanks for the help, guys!

P.S. If anyone knows some Jeep-ers in the Sioux Falls area, I could sure sure an off-roading buddy!

nope you wolnt need a adjustable trac bar but if you intend on going higher anytime soon i say get one so you get it out of the way, but just my two cents. peace

Sorry about that rreed. They're American Racing center caps. I don't know if they make different models or anything.

Ok, I jsut got a reply from rocky road, the guy says the LT series shocks are for 3"+ systems, he recemends I go for standard OME shocks. Anyone know if it will work with a 2" fine, or should I be afraid that they will bottom out when I flex?

I thought that the spring retainers were good enough if you had a 3" max spacer in front and a 1.75" max in back? IM doing a 2"/1.75" setup....I will go with the standard OME shocks then...is there anyway I can help retain the springs?
