Bought the ZJ about two months before I turned 15, buut being that sweet ole' Momma paid for it... it was off limits for over a year

...in here words, it wasn't exactly mine yet, not untill I turned 16, it was my 16th birthday present. Fair enough, I guess...

1996 Grand Cherokee (obviously)
318ci
21x,xxx miles (I don't remember exactly how many when she bought it)
some pos 225/70/16's that had nothing left on them
44re
np249
d30 and d44hd w/ 3.73
radio didn't work
all speakers were dry rotted
torn leather seats
wouldn't idle
no heat or air
$1500 repo :D

but I gotta Jeep

next: new tires, momma picked em out as a surprise, which was very much appreciated, buuut the tires themselves, ahh not so great : (

225/70/16 Uniroyal Laredo's
new thermostat
regular fluid changes and what not, only time momma would pay for it so it got taken to a shop... but the guy built his xj from a totaled jeep that he fund at a junkyard, now it's one BAMF haha, so i some what trust him with mine... but not all that much.

then i wrecked it.... $900 in body damage (same place that momma took it before, they're not charging but about 1/4 of typical labor costs)
$490 to get it driveable again... new radiator and support and they had to bend the "frame"....

so i got her running again, still have body damage but it'll be trimming out before i get the rest of it fixed...

some stock wheelin pics...

then disconnected the sway bar... and this happened

went down to the junkyard in may sometime, and picked up some f250 springs...

through trial and error i realized that they need to be cut up a little bit to fit, did the cutting... have no pics of that, but this is the f>r swap w/ f250 springs

and with 32's i bought used for 120

cleaned up the rear diff cover and painted, i actually didn't mean to paint it silver but i liked it and kept going....

Image

then removed the front bumper (it's been ripped off so many times and barely hung on, it was time to go) and made a little radiator protector...

DUUUUDE i was so pissed when i went to show my grandma the video, haha it cut it off... it's a 45 second clip, it's on my girlfriends copmuter so i'll have to go and upload it again, whats another good place to upload videos at? but i made it through, it's deep but not like so deep you have to worry about messing shit up...

oh and i painted me bumper and the "skid" thingy i have on there black i'll get pics up tonight or tomorrow

What year F250 did you pull those springs from? How much lift do they give you? Stiff ride? What did you have to "cut up" to make them fit?

Nice job. Way to keep it on budget. [smilie=bal_cool.gif]

the little straight piece on the bottom, it wouldn't go over the perch, and grinded the lip around the metal thing holding the bump stop down a little, then they slipped right in...

a friend of mine actually had the idea, he said that f150 springs give him (an xj) about 3", so he said F-250 springs should do it... I used 78 springs and they gave me abooout 4.5" i never measured it stock so i have only the back to compare it to, but its about 1" taller up front than the back. they're pretty stiff, no unbarable (sp?) but they're almost the exact height as stock front springs... so you do the math there haha

but thanks, it fit my budget nicely ($15 for two front springs :D )

so driving down the road right? *imagine it damnit!*

and i feel a lil DW comin on so i slowed down, and it chilled and all of a sudden...

BAM!....

jeep swerves over into lane for oncoming traffic.... "oh [smilie=censored.gif] "

but i make it to the turning lane (on the far side of the road not the middle)

and i looked...

cotter pin snapped, castle went bye bye, drag link wasn't connect to knuckle... "ah [smilie=censored.gif]" i say again to my self

lucky for me i pulled extra castle nuts and cotter pins when i replaced my drag link end (the other end connecting to my pitman arm)... so i just pulled out the tools and fixed it... BUT HOLY **** WAS IT SCARY hahah thought i'd share that with ya'll
