yes it is my dd and I drive it all over. I was also going to lock it with a suretrac( I think that is what it was called)

Yea, i'd have to say go with some 4.10's if your going to stick with the 33's. I had the same plan to do that eventually. I have an Explorer 8.8 waiting to be put in this summer, just looking for a matching HP30 front out of a 4cyl. cherokee.

The actual numbers come out to be your new tire size(33) divided by the stock tire size(about 29?) then multipy that(1.13) times the current gear ratio(3.73, for mine anyway) making it a 4.21:1 ratio to make it deliver power like stock. If your ratio is 4.55, then the equation comes to 4.01:1 ratio. So with that said in a long winded way, go with 4.10's.

Iv got 3.55 now. with a/c on it chugs real bad have to turn off a/c on take off. you also have to realize that I drive it like I stole it.

Go with 4.56. I say this for two reasons. First, being at 7.5" of lift you will probably end up eventually getting 35's which are going to be too sluggish with the 4.10's and you'll want to gear again. Secondly you have the I6 engine. It produces a good amount of power but Its gonna make it a bit easier if ya go with 4.56 on the engine as opposed to 4.10's. That being said if you honestly know you'll never throw 35's under it than go with the 4.10's. Otherwise Id suggest you go with 4.56. Besides, you dont need a super high top speed, these things arent made to race. We wheel our Grands, your gonna want a lower ratio for that!

All of that good and said, the thing i see with getting 4.56's is a great choice. In my options i can get a front and rear axle setup that already has 4.10's in them and i won't need to worry about paying someone to put in gears. I figure i'll just swap strong rears in with the right gearing for 33's and get to birds knocked out with one stone. But if you've got the money and you don't mind putting more into rears down the road, then go with 4.56's. I don't think anyone even asked what kind of axles you're running.

Thats right. That is some very important info to play into this. If your running a D35 then dont bother dropping a cent into it. Swap a different axle in and save yourself a headache. But it its the D44al then you should be alright gearing that.

Well buddy, now you're in the same boat as so many others. Burn the Dana's and get something else as a package. Explorer 8.8's come with 4.10's in some and HP30 cherokee axles come with 4.10's and some even 4.56's from the factory! They are located in 4cyl. cherokees for the 4.10 and 4.56 ratios. I'd go out to a local junk yard and start searching.

so higher number means more low end and less high end?? i like to spin the tires but i never take a lifted vehicle over 85 mph

i still have stock axles [smilie=hb_bad.gif]
