I just replaced the transfer case on my WJ and need to fill it. I seem to recall reading somewhere that the 247 takes a certain type of fluid, but can't find that thead now. Can someone tell me for sure what type of fluid to put in it?

Thanks.

From what I've seem you will need to go to the stealership for this fluid.

All I've seen, as listed in the Haynes Repair Manual is for all transfer cases. Its says that the recommended fluid is Dexron III/Mercon automatic transmission fluid. I would call the dealership and ask what fluid it takes just in case. It also says it takes 2.5pts. I hope this helps.

just to let you know , yes the 247 takes special fluid ,but heres some secrete info. (from a good guy that works @ a stealership) its the same fluid as rack
and pinion fluid
hope this helps

Damn! Just a little too late :p . Could've saved me a couple dollars ($11.25 a quart)! Decided to stop by the dealer on the way home from work last night and pick up a couple of quarts. Thanks to everyone who responded, appreciate the info. Now I know for the next time [smilie=bal_cool.gif]
