Any1 running em'on their GC? I've used them on my SBC cars and are great - but they are old school. I have an 01' Grand limited and am thinking about a stage 2 shift kit. With all the computer junk, I dunno how effective it'll be from the sloppy shifts and all. Any takers? Thx guys.

There are plenty of people running Transgo kits in their Grands and sometime this fall I hope to be one of them. I don't have any first hand experience right now (if I did it would be with my RE46) so I would suggest you give Transgo a call with your application.

Transgo

I have been running a transgo shift kit on my grand. It has the 5.2 pushing 35's and I can say it is worth it to me. Not a head snapping change but there is a noticeable tightness. I beat a Jetta out at the drags with it to!

some info

what did this shift kit cost you? and how hard was it to install? if you dont mind me asking..... Do you have the phone # where I can get it..

I just found out Transgo doesn't make a freakin shift kit for the 45/5-45RFE [smilie=censored.gif] . They make a valvebody kit that doesn't resemble the kind of kit i'm used to:

45RFE 4 speed / 5-45RFE 5 speed
3.7 V6 / 4.7 V8 / 5.7 V8
1999-2005 Dodge - Jeep
Corrects/Prevents/Reduces: Clutch burnup; Rough lockup; Broken springs; Weak input snap ring.

I'm more than a little pissed - If anybody has any other info on the 45/5-45RFE tranny "shift kits" pls let me know.............a valvebody upgrade - that's it???

B&M

I stuck a B&M in mine. It was a pretty simple install, messy but simple enough. The kit came w/ good instructions and it was my first venture into the auto trans. Definitely a change in the shifting. When I'm on the gas, it runs like a scalded dog and shifts hard and firm. Sometimes it gets on my nerves when I'm coasting around and it still slams into gear. I've learned to expect when its coming now, so its not as much of a surprise. All in all, I think it was a worthy addition.

I got mine from www.jegs.com

Your jeep has an electronically controlled trans maybe the Mopar Performance engine controller will have revised trans software in it too.

I have a ZJ with the 42RE. How difficult is it to install. I need to change the fluid and filter soon and adjust the TV cable I think. It shifts slow. 145K miles. I have never done any of this on this vehicle before. I read the manual and it seems fairly straight forward.

Is the transgo kit worth the money. I use my ZJ to tow with so I tend to shift it manually.

i love my transgo shift kit, makes merging into traffic a little easier and the shifts are far more reliable and precise.

is it hard to install these kits? i am considering one on my stock 96 grand as i will be doing some towing of a 25 ft travel trailer and figure it could use all the help it can get.

trans go

I just recieved the kit from APS (the reprogram kit, not the Junior kit). I haven't installed it yet. However, it is much simpler than instructions posted on this web, consisting mainly of new springs for the valve body. It will be a few weeks before I can post any results/driving impressions though (still waiting for the title from the P/O, for one thing). [smilie=1wj2.gif]
