new 4" lift on '01 WJ with factory 17" wheels. i haven't seen many setups w/ the 17" wheels posted in the forum, so i wanted to get some advice....
the BFG M/T's are my first choice, but only available in 285/70/17 (~33"), while the BFG A/T's are available in 265/70/17 (~32")....will the 285's fit???
i'm hoping to order new tires ASAP b/c i feel kind of silly riding around w/ 4" lift and factory 235's. any help is appreciated.
thanks

put on 285's, trim to fit.

or go to the tire shop if they have them and have them mount one up on a wheel for you. i know discount tire will do that. then check for rubbing.

how much trimming should i expect with 285's? i don't mind trimming the inner plastic well, but i'm not down w/ cutting up the fenders. i'm only gonna get 1 shot, b/c i can't find a local tire shop w/ 285's in stock.
thanks again for your help

You will need some sort of wheel spacer for the stock backspacing and 33's. I tried with the stock 16's, no go. The 32's will be ok, but the 33's will rub the shock in the rear with 30psi and destroy stuff if you air down/disconnect. The 4" lift height with 33's has been done, but you will need to trim more than just removing the wheel liners.

Pick up some cheap 16" wheels and sell off the 17's.

Good luck.

David.

wheel spacers are weak man. get some 16's like he said with 3.75"t-4.50" wheels so you won't have to worry about breakage

I ran 265/60/17 BFG AT's on a 4" TF lift on my '02 Overland and had minor rubbing on the front control arms at full crank. I had to be careful when wheeling to not stuff the front tires in the wheel well allowing them to trim for me.

thanks for all the help. i ended up going w/ the 265's for now, but i am not disappointed. they look and feel awesome, no rubbing at all, not even at full crank. i can imagine once i get off the pavement i may have a few rubs, but doesn't look like it will be anything major. i should have some pics to post in a few days.
thanks again for the help.
