I need a new/longer rear driveshaft and would like some input on what options I have. I can either lengthen my current shaft, install an SYE with a double cardan CV shaft, or install slip yoke double cardan shaft. I'm at almost 6" in the rear, so something needs to be done relatively soon. Lengthening my stock shaft would obviously be the cheapest, but maybe not most effective fix. What have you guys done?
If I go with a new shaft, Tom Woods no doubt. Here is a link to the SYE I would use: http://www.tandjperformance.com/products-bpp-249tailshaftconversion.htm

Opinions?

I just got this tip:
The angles don't look too terrible and if it were mine I think I would try this first. Adjust the pinion so the pinion is parallel to the out-put of the transfer case and remove the mass vibration dampener hub from the slip yoke on the drive shaft. As things are there has to be a small amount of clearance between the slip yoke on the drive shaft and the bushing that is in the tail cone. This clearance will allow the drive shaft to run somewhat eccentric As the slip yoke pulls out further the yoke will run even more eccentric. The additional mass of this hub will create more vibration than a lighter drive shaft. I think you will find this makes a significant improvement. If it does you may then want to just have the drive shaft lengthened.
How difficult is it to remove the dampener hub??
