So...I want to hear the carnage/breakage story!

Nothing to exciting, lol. Went wheeling at Big Rock ORP in Maysville Ky. Wheeled for 3 days with 4 Wranglers and a Cherokee.

They have cut a few new trails that we hit up. One of the new newest ones we had hit earlier and only 1 of the Wrangles and I made it up this pretty steep climb that had a few ledges, loose slate rock and you had to bump on the way up to get over them. You needed pretty good speed and wheel spin to get up. We ended up hitting it up again on the last day again because a couple of the other Wranglers wanted to hit it up and try it again. I made it up again but I heard a loud clicking when I hit the next to the last ledge. After I got over the top and got out and checked the driver side boot was shredded. Pulled the shaft and drove it home.

Figured the high wheels spin, age, years of wheeling and landing on the ledges at the end did them in.

Decided to change both shafts since the are original and over 10 years old. When I got the hubs off one was a little rough so replaced both those too. Will keep the old ones for spares. The new shafts have a lifetime warranty and hubs 3 year. Hopefully will be good for another few years. Or I need to stay off the extreme hills. :)

Nice, and I am glad you made it home okay. I carry spare axle shafts and a unit bearing on the trails with me, just in case :)

Or you could upgrade to rubicon axles ;)

I have a parts WJ that I'll pull the shafts from for further adventures.

Yeah I have a 9" ready to go in the back just looking for a HP44 for the front to build and I hear the Rubicon's fronts arn't that much of an improvement.

boy that 9 inch will be the cats *** you should forget about the d44 front find another 9 inch and flip for the front so worth doin my recently deceased friend did one up on a cj with a 500 horse motor in it and repeatedly jumped and beat the piss out of it for over 6 years nobody gives 9 inch's enough credit anymore

Well after a good wheeling trip a couple weeks ago I felt that my old battery was on its last leg. So I decided go dual like theksmith but keep mine up front. He liked my spare tire well mod so I figure I'd copy his dual battery mod.

Started with 2 group 34/78 Diehard Platinum. 850 CCA, 135 Minutes of reserve capacity, AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) construction, 4 year free replacement and 10 year prorated.

Old battery and fuse block moved out of the way.

Battery tray in work. Staggered the batteries to clear the hood. It will bolt to all the original battery tray locations.

Batteries test fitted in tray. I built a lip for each of the batteries that the bottoms will slip into. Will build a top hold down later.

Tray and batteries test fitted in the jeep. Will need to notch the braces in the hood in two places slightly to clear one of the posts and front pass side of front battery.

New location for fuse block. Will build bracket for it later.

Tray painted and installed.

Isolator mounted to the top of the fuse box.

Batteries and isolator installed. Hold down installed. Used 1/0 wire for the winch and from the batteries to the isolator. Kept the 4 gauge from the original wiring for the rest. Also upgraded to 2 gauge wire for from the Mean Green alt to the battery.

Finished product. Only thing left is running the switch for the isolator into the cab. Fired it up and everything worked as advertised. Not much room left in the engine bay for many more mods.

That is some serious work to get dual batteries, and it looks great.

Decided to take the old Wrangle skid plate off the WJ and build a new one. Found a little mud up on it. It served its purpose for 7 years and was free to start with.

Found lots of mud after the last wheeling trip.

Also went to a offroad event on sat and won this in their raffle.

Got tired of looking at the bare spots under the headlights where I trimmed the bumper. So I made a couple pieces to cover it up. Cut a piece of sheet metal to bolt on first then bent and cut some scrap tube to finish it off.

Looking good, and nice win!

Well I finally decided to start a build/mod thread to consolidate all my stuff in hopefully one thread. It's a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.0 with a 242 TC and 30/35 axles that I bought new with 16 miles on it in Tucson AZ. I have a lot of catching up led tubes to do. I'll try and catch it up as quickly as possible.

Been Jeeping since 1975. Have had CJs, a MJ, XJs, WJs and a WK. Even spent two years in Turkey with my MJ wheeling.

Here is a pic of when my current 01 WJ was stock (on the right).

Here it is now.

Built a harness bar for my 4 point harness. Its attached with 3 bolts into the into the pinch seam and 3 into the B pillar. 1/4 plate on the sides and 1 1/2 thick wall tube. Think I might make a hoop to go up and over the seats too. Will put padding on the harness tube next so the back seaters wont smack it.

Had a busy weekend. Went to my wife's grandfathers funeral on Sat and her mothers funeral on Sun.

Today got to hit up a couple junk yards since it was 50% off weekend. Found a couple things. A 242HD out of a 2000 V8 Laredo and the driveshaft. 50% off and 10% military discount.

It cycles fine. Need to crack it open and check it out. Also see if I need to swap the input shafts.
