Alright so what is up with this Grand Slam West thread? I mean why doesn't anyone post up in here? Where are the fellow Utah Grand Cherokee owners? We've got to start planning some trips out to Little Moab, The Snakes, Moab, Ash Creek/Wrecking Yard, Diff Hanger...and the list goes on! So if anyone (most likely from Utah) is interested in some Saturday or Sunday trail runs then post up!

Utah rides

I'd certainly be interested, but I'm just getting ready to do a 2" budget boost and I still need new rubber.
If you're sitting at a 9" lift, I doubt I could handle any of the trails you're hitting.
If you've got anything in mind that can handle a stock + 2" lift let me know.
Speaking of the lift, do you happen to know anyone arouund the Sandy area that has a garage/overhead lift?

Well there are definitely some fun and easier trails to do around here. Some WAY sweet scenery too! I'll for sure let you know when my buddy and I will be going out and you can join ;) .

As for a lift...I wish I knew...if I did my Jeep wouldn't be sitting in my garage on jack stands

Wow this is a really exciting thread eh?
The activity will pick up as registration opens and the event gets closer. For updates you can visit the GSW home page at:
http://gsw.mallcrawlin.com/

Also, for reference you can try and dig up prior media coverage:
Grand Slam West has been featured three times in major magazines: the January 2002 issue of 4Wheel Drive and Sport Utility Magazine, the October 2004 issue of Jp Magazine and in the October 2005 issue of 4Wheel Drive and Sport Utility Magazine. Participation is capped at 50 vehicles to comply with BLM requests.

If you're interested save the dates, get your ride ready and watch for updates. It would be great to see a good turnout of NAGCA members.

I will be there definately!

You'll see an amazing amount of traffic pick up within the next couple of months. Usually, the GSlams are in the summer and lots of forum traffic due to lists, requirements and reservations.

During the winter, you'll be prepping for next summer's trip.

While interested in doing local trails before a GSlam event, I'm currently using the ZJ as a Daily Driver. So I have to be picky about trails. I live close to the Snakes, but haven't been yet, mostly because I need new tires...

You could run the easier trails and have a blast. As long as you have some armor.

I have done some easy trails. And I'm not completely new to offroading. Just new to the ZJ thing. I'm hoping though, in the next few months to be able to free up more time on the weekends... ;) And, also, making some decisions on the Ranger (I'd like to make it a rock machine).

I'd love to do Moab, with the ZJ, and bring a MTB bike... Which is how I'm spending parts of my weekends now. Not ready for trails on it yet, but getting there. I got so fat after I retired it isn't funny. Then I lost some weight and then put some of it back, and now I'm seriously trying to lose some again. I haven't been serious about cycling in about 12 years, and I really regret stepping away from it. Just as a hint, back in the day, I used road bike triple cranksets for my MTB... And pushed a 53/12 on it. That day is long past, but maybe I can get there again.

But back on topic, I will take the ZJ to Moab someday, just hoping the factory skids in the Upcountry package are ready. OK, Maybe I'll do a 2" BB too... And gather some spare parts too...

Besides, I'd love to have a pic of my ZJ at Top of the World, and me on my MTB bike too! [smilie=bal_cool.gif]

BB is definately helpfull and rocker protection as well if you like your rocker panels.

I don't have 9.5" of lift, but I think I can keep up ;)

yeah....my 9.5" may be overkill, but I stuff those 35's way up in there haha. MoabZJ are you on RME by chance?
Whats funny is that I've been trying to talk myself into buying 4.5" coils to drop down from 5.5" of lift. Not worth the money right now for a rig I don't really care much for.

My 35's tuck just fine too ;)

I'm Cody on RME.
