Hello,

I'm having a strange problem with my 1999 WJ. Engine is a 4.0 with the 42RE and the NV-242 Transfer Case. When I park in my driveway facing uphill, The next morning there's a nice sized puddle of tranny fluid from the transmission under the car. If I back the car into my driveway and the car faces downhill, there's no leak. I'm thinking that perhaps a rear tranny seal is bad. Can anyone give me additional advice on this? Also, I just replaced the tranny fluid and the puddle under the car is clean fluid, so I know it's coming from the tranny and not the transfer case.

As Green Machine said, transmission rear tail shaft/output shaft seal.
