Default wj wiper problem

I am having wiper issues with a 2004 WJ Overland with rain sense wipers. When I set the switch to any rain sense position they stop all over the place. When I set the switch to continual on, low or high they will continually work but when turned off they will stop any where on the windshield. Will not park.
I removed the motor and cleaned/polished the contact wheel where the 3 pins touch. Still no change.
Please can anyone offer me some advice what to do next. Thank You

I would check the column switch and connector plug for damage/bad contact and also I think the switches are prong to breaking the solder joints to the connector plug.
