It shouldn't be just a bolt... it's a ball joint style connection with a tapered fit like a tie rod end.

Likely, the joint was worn and it got side loaded when pulling into the lot at slow speed. Slow speed turning puts a lot of stress on steering components more so than when turning at speed.

I would check all the tie rod ends and such for play and replace anything that looks suspect while you're at it.
