I currently have an Alpine 9803 headunit with Rockford Fosgate 2-way 6 1/2 in the front doors and 2-way Profile 6 1/2 in the back doors in my 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and I wanted to know should I bypass the stock infinity amplifier and run the speakers off of the headunit, or should I replace the stock infinity amplifier with the MTX 3202 amplifier that I currently have sitting in my living room, or should I leave it be,? If I use the MTX amp I will run the left side off of one channel and the right side off the other. What do you think? Here are some power specs if it helps.
Alpine CDM 9803
4x23 watts RMS
4x50 watts Max

MTX 3202
100 watts per channel at 2ohms RMS

Stock Infinity Amp
120 watt

Keep the infinity pushing the door speakers, and use the other with some subs... Thats is the setup I have. It works... I think the Infinity pushes 100W

I have an alpine deck, and Alpine type -S speakers all around, using the stock amp, then I "had" an Orion 2500 watt Class D mono amp with two P10D4's from Directed Elecs. That was a *****en system...

Sold the amp and subs though, and it still sounds good, just not nearly the same amount of BASS.

But yea stick with the stock amp for the doors...

It really depends on the headunit you're considering running the speakers off of, some are better than the infinity, some are worse. Distributing the load is usually best, though.

I am running a newer Alpine head into the factory amp using a harness adapter and it sounds just great. Plenty of volume and cleaner than I expected it to be.

after market owns stock. i replaced all my speakers and have a better amp to them and my highs and mids sound amazing! the lows produced by a 1500 watt sub dont drown out the melody.

Need to replace my speakers and head unit also and was wondering this also. Do you have to wire up the head unit special to run to the factory amp or not?? Have not got any of the pieces for this swap yet, but not going high end or with subs yet.
