Pre Trail Check List
by Clay Cissell
Before you go out on the trail it is extremely important to be prepared. You may think that you aren't going to break down or get yourself into a situation that you can't easily get out of, but you never know what you are going to encounter on the trail. Preparing your vehicle for the unexpected may be a blessing by the time you return home from your trail run. Never take your vehicle out on the trail if it is not in trail ready condition. If your transmission has been slipping or your serpentine belt is badly cracked don't take it out on a trail. It is very likely that it will fail and not only leave you broke down on the trail but it will impact those that are on the trail with you. Get your repairs completed and perform your maintenance prior to the trail run. Your fellow wheelers will appreciate your consideration. NEVER go out on the trail alone. It is best to take at least one other vechile with you.
I have compiled a check list of the items that I suggest you have for your trail run. Before I had a check list I would get frustrated when I discovered that I had left something of importance at home. You can, of course, add or remove items based on your needs and trail conditions. If you have items that you think should be added to the list please let us know at ideas
