Sway Bar Disconnect Holder
A Teraflex Fix
By Clay Cissell

If you have the Teraflex sway bar disconnects you already know that you have the easiest disconnects on the market for your Grand Cherokee. Despite the great engineering that went into these disconnects they came up short when they designed the strap system that holds the sway bar and disconnect in place while you are wheeling. After dealing with bungee cords, wire ties and attempts to use the strap and hook provided by Teraflex I got fed up with not having a secure and quick way to strap up the sway bar.
For less then $3.00 I came up with an easy way of securing the sway bar utilizing the Teraflex strap. I picked up a couple ¼” cold shuts from the hardware store. You can find these in the chain area of the store.
Now cut a piece off the end to make it easier to hook the
strap.
Then
with the bench grinder I rounded off the cut edges and had the finished product
ready to screw in place with a self taping bolt.
Notice the placement of the strap and hook.
Your
ZJ model may not look like this in the fender well since we performed some
trimming of excess sheet metal to help in severe tire stuffing situations.
As
you can see the strap and hook hold the sway bar up and out of the way. Now it
only takes a few seconds and very little effort to secure your sway bar.
