Good choice for the limited room on the instrument panel. I put the little remote box under the rear seat. The larger mic part will reach the driver just fine. You will need to run a power wire to the remote box. Routed mine from the battery, along the bottom of passenger doors. You can attach the antenna to the roof rack nicely. The coax can run through the gromet above the rear door and down behind the left rear panel. I have a few picts if you are interested.

I mounted to box under the passenger seat and the mic rests between the console and pass seat when not in use. You can pick up +12V from several points in the fuse panel on the pass side kick panel. Very low power consumption on the CB so most anything will do.

ha i jsut posted sometihn like this like three weeks ago ok go with a FireStik II there jsut better no questions asked but thats a personal opinion and if someone begs to differ please do so. i installed mine by myself and i thoght it was gonna be a job and hard but it was a breeze it was the easiest mod ever done besides replacing the windshield wipers. ok i mounted mine to the right of the console next to where the passenger puts his legs i mounted it onto the console and its great perfect place for because it allows easy access. theres my .02 and good luck on ur install let me know if u need any more info. im not a rookie and definetely not a pro. later JOHN

You can also put the box under the center console between the passengers, where the shift levers are.... lots of space there, and easy to remove. That's where mine is....
(In a WJ, I know nothing about a ZJ) |

So there you go. You can put it about anywhere and it will work. Of note though, watch where you tap power. You can pick up a lot of electrical noise in these new computer driven vehicles. The closer to battery you can get the better. CB's are very suceptable to electrical noise.
