Looking at buying... some questions - North American Grand Cherokee Association

I am looking at buying a 2006 with 60k miles 5.7.

It has a small lift, an ARB front bumper and wench, simple wheels, good tread, some very minor visible defects on the outside (scratches on the wheels, no paint chips or scratches, a couple almost unnoticeable dents). Inside looks like it has been used. Pealing "chrome" on the 4low lever, cracked buttons (still work), tears in the headliner. but otherwise seems ok.

It showed ~14 average on the hwy, and about ~7 in the city on my short test drive.

SO...

I am a ZJ guy. I have NO IDEA what to look for (ie Farkups on installations of equipment), or what this thing is worth offering.

It is sitting at ~$23k now.

Also, I dont know what to expect on mileage (it will be driven on about a 2 mile per day commute, and trips/offroading, so low mpg is not a problem; I just want to know... I heave heard everything from 20 to 9 mpg highway), what to expect on fuel (high octane?), or maintenance costs down the road with a 60k mile WK.

Can someone help me out?

5.7 ONLY needs 89 octane. Get GOOD fuel, not ethanol shite. It may trigger emissions code as on mine. MPG can be decent, IF the gearing hasn't been lowered. Stock, if driven nicely, will get 15 city 20 highway (with cruise and its cylinder deactivation).

23k seems pretty high. I picked up an 08 overland 5.7 for 25 in dec.

I ended up getting it for about $19K

From a dealership. It was a Sunday night at closing when I stopped by to finally buy it, and the people still working claimed they wanted to get the sale for their Monday meetings.

I told them I wanted $19 flat and they took it.

I guess they were getting ready to auction it anyway (5.7 Jeeps with ARB bumpers and winches are not big sellers in the SF Bay Area)... The place sells like 15 Priuses a week or something.

I feel like I got a good deal, so I am happy.

After driving it for a couple weeks, I have to say that the lack of headroom is more annoying than the MPG's
