Need A/C wiring advice:
- A/C wiring diagram or schematic for 1995 Jeep GC … or - a way to test whether a connection is safe BEFORE joining two plugs. - someone to tell me it’s OK to re- connect these wires. I have found two loose plug ends dangling free from beneath the instrument panel - wiring harnesses on the left wall near the hood release lever. I want to be sure it’s safe to re-connect them. Have recently lost cooled air from a properly functioning condenser and the freon tests within the proper range. I found these wires loose from the wiring harness while trying to figure out why the A/C quit working when the day before it was just fine. It’s possible the wires were pulled apart accidentally when one of us reached down to pull the hood release. I am hoping this re-connect will solve the problem, but don’t know enough about auto wiring to try it without skilled approval. Too many bad things can happen to a car by plugging in the wrong wires! OBSERVATIONS: ¨ It appears that when the two plugs are re-joined they will slide into a groove in the floor mat/panel just made for them. ¨ The colors of the wires in both pieces/plugs are the same, and in the same sequence, ¨ BUT they don’t slide together easily, and I don’t want to force them together if they don’t belong there. Everything seems to make sense, but I don’t know how to test electrical elements and don’t want to damage my much beloved Jeep by joining wires that will cause it to self-destruct. Please advise… and thanks.

Did you check the wiring diagrams in the Haynes manual?

Thanks for responding but ... No. How do I find and download it? Do you have one?
I found an awesome wiring schematic for the '95 but there was no reference to air conditioning wiring. It was primarily headlights, tailllights, etc. insofar as I could tell. If I could find another '95 I'd look at that slot in the floor panel to see what's located there. If it's a joined set of plugs with six colored wires each I'd know... also need to know whether to join them exactly matching the colors or reverse them... |

Haynes manual is at you local auto parts store, pretty inexpensive. Or ebay, even less.
