Trans question - North American Grand Cherokee Association

I have a 98 ZJ with full time and a 5.2, what trans might I have. My trans seems to be chattering going into top gear. I have been told it is the TC by 2 places and internal by 2 others. Could it be electrical? Looks like a rebuild or reman my be in my future. So much for my 231 install and the lift!
