Default Alarm goes off every night around 3-4am

my neighbors are pissed at me since my alarm has been going off almost every night. I wasnt sure if someone was messing with me or is it my alarm system. My alarm system is factory. From my research, it seems most jeeps alarm problem are common. Did this ever happen to u?

My 95 had an issue somewhere in the wiring. Every once in a while the interior lights would flash on for no reason. After it happened 4-5 times, I figured something was messed up. Then it did it one night when I was standing outside...I saw the interior lights flash on.

All of this happened over a 3 month period, and then it would only happen like once every 4 months so I just ignored it. I don't know where the problem was, and I also had an aftermarket alarm. So I don't know if it is the same issue, but the interior light issue could be related to yours as well.

I had the same problem with min. do you the key to unlock the door or the fob? I had the same problem with mine, got a new FOB, only use that to unlock the jeep and have not had the problem since.

I think he's right about the alarms acting funny when batt is low.

Mine did this a few times, didnt think nothing of it, but since I replaced mt battery after it died, has not happened since.

My battery is fine. I notice when it is very very cold outside, the interior lights flashes as the tailgate was ajarred according to my VIC. it stops when the interior is warm enough. I figured it could be the sensors. Then i went to the dealership, they said i need to replace the switch for the tailgate. So speakin of the sensors, they mention that one of the 5 sensors in the ZJ could be bad that could caused the alarm to go off. $80 for them to use the program to find which sensor is bad. From my research, some said its the plastic striker under the hood, but not sure exactly where.

I don't think the 96-98 ZJ's have an under hood alarm sensor, they had too much trouble with them in the early ZJ's.
