I have a 96 grand cheroke 155k miles with 4.0
Tranny fluid is full and clean. Tranny shifts normal and feels great. The 42RE makes gear wind sound in 1st gear only, is this normal or does it mean impending doom? It isnt really loud just noticable. [smilie=bal_thanx.gif]

The Mopar Torqueflite based trans will all wine in 1st. These include all the 42, 44, 45, 46, 47 and 48 series Mopar electronically controled trans. The wine is almost a trade mark. In my ZJ, it brings back memories of my dad's '64 Plymouth and it's just like my '65 Polara. The whine is something that I missed durring the years that I drove XJs with AW4 trans.
