ZJ: Anyone running upper and lower stock length control arms with 33's? I have done some fender trimming front and rear and not afraid to do more. Just wondering if anyone has run 33's with stock length arms.

I may be wrong, but I think Nate Cannon is running 35's with stock arms.

I am running 285/75r16s (33x11). The front arms are stock length. The rears are kicked back about 3/8". But I have a 6" lift to keep the body off the tires.

Assuming the tires aren't oversized, you can drive home from the shop with 33's and no trimming. Barely. Remove the lower-most cladding in front of the rear tires first. Take it easy turning and in driveways.
At ~22" with 32.1x10.5 TSL's and stock arms I had to trim the usual. -Lower-front corner of the rear tire well. Took off maybe 1/2" of the corner to get 3/4" clearance. -Lower-front of front bumper fascia. The lugs would catch in turns and make a racket. -Pinch welds inside wheel wells. Some appear to be designed for tire-knife duty. In back, slightly longer arms will help reduce trimming but then tires will hit earlier under compression. In front, longer arms will increase the amount of cutting necessary with factory bumpers. Backspacing and tire width affect lots up front. Not many people have your exact combo, and none have your zj. Be prepared to stuff & turn to find danger spots before wheeling. Don't ruin the new shoes! ![]() Dave |

Rear fender trimming, so far:

Front fender trimming so far: http://www.imagestation.com/album/pi...127703&start=1 Most of the pinch weld is gone. Except for the lowest part. I didn't trim that because it a joining section to a box section of the frame. Hopefully as the tire archs up it will clear that. We will see. As far as the front bumper I am missing most of that, and hopefully even more after Kevin's front lower rad support. ![]() I am thinking I will go the pizza cutter route and get some 33X10.50's. It sounds like it will be easier to stuff that in the fenders. I have come to the conclusion that the rear fender is big and easy to stuff a real tire in it, but the front fender is a different story. Now on to further discussion... Chad |
