Hi,
since a few weeks I hear some noise from my rear differential when I drive in low speed in curves. That happens only when I drive long distances and driving fast on the Motorway. I don't know what the problem is. The noise cames when I get off the motorway and drive slower in the city. Mainly it happens when I take turns. A friend of me told me that it could be the lubrificant I use. He said that I should change it for a better one. Has anybody the same problem. I live hear in Germany and it is really very expensive to repair it at a Jeep Dealer. Thank You! ps: the noise which appears while taking turns is like rubbing 2 metal parts for a few second. And sometimes there is no noise while taking turns or curves. |

Hi sound to me like you are the victim of the all famuse Grand rear end. Unfortunily i think the only way is to have it rebuilt. I agree Jeep dealers in Europe are way expensive but a smaller garage should be able to help. My rear dif had to be replaced two monthes ago. i dont think there is one that has not had this particular problem. however when mine started going it sounded more like a tire had a flat spot.

[b]I'd thing a fluid change might be a good idea, before you get into expensive stuff. Try reading up on your differential, here:
http://www.howstuffworks.com/differential6.htm Then read the procedure for changing it here (it's REALLY easy) http://www.jeepzj.com/faq/axlefluid.html http://forums.jeepsunlimited.com/ubb...ML/001328.html http://www.jeepclub.co.uk/articles/diff.html Then getcha some of this 75W-140... http://www.amsoil.com/products/tgo.htm ...or this 80W-140 http://www.ogracing.com/ogshell/load...48+catlub.html |
