I've been Jeepin for about a year now, and have experienced the DW multiple times, but it still freaks me out every time. Mom is still looking for reasons for me to take all the lift off and sell it anyway, but if she ever rides with me and finds out about the DW, it's practically written in stone that the Jeep is gone!

I still haven't found out what exactly it is or how to fix it.

All I know is that when I go over a pothole of some sort, or even hitting a bridge and the road isn't flush, the DW jumps out.

I was riding behind a friend, and he said that all it was, was my right tire doing some Serious wobbling! It freaked him out, and he wasn't even in the Jeep.

I've found only three ways to get out of DW...
1. slow down to a near stop (in town)
2. accelerate out of it (interstate) sometimes harder than others
3. jerk the wheel left or right (recently tried in town) haven't done much experimenting

These aren't fixes though, is there any hope?!?

I'm thinking about reducing my lift to just 2"BB and running 31x10.5s, unless I get a response stating that the DW is still a problem there as well.

Any questions, comments, or help is More than welcome and appreciated!
Thanks!

Are you running all of that lift on stock control arms? Is the trackbar tight? Have you replaced the steering stabilizer? Are the cam bolts for the Front LCAs in some weird arrangement (IE One forward and one backward)
Mine had DW and I replaced the steering stabilizer, and made sure that both of the LCA cam bolts were at the furthest rearward position. This was just with 3" rancho springs all around. I have also heard that further offset wheels make DW more prominent along with heavier tires. You might have to get new adjustible LCAs and maybe UCAs to get the castor back in reasonable spec...
Just a few things to check....
BTW I grew up in Birmingham (Vestavia) haven't been back much lately...

Have a friend that has had the same problem. After FULLY disecting the front end, swithiing everything from 2 steering boxes, trackbars, SS, bushing, etc., It turned out to be the cheap after market steal rims and BFG's all terrains. I have seen this on two seperate jeeps. Just something to check.

My DW was due to the rubber bushings in the LCAs being toasted. 2 x Currie adjustables = no DW..

I had the same problem, as a last resort I had it aligned. All DW is gone. I have the stock tracbar at 5" and all upper control arms stock.

I am having the exact same problem. I have a 96 zj with the 2"BB and 31" tires. I lifted it about 2 weeks ago, but the problem didn't start till about a week ago. I took it in for an alignment because it needed one anyway, so while they were under there, I got them to check everything. Turns out my steering stabilizer was leaking, so I replaced it. Also, the mechanic said the trac bar was "worn" as he called it. I am assuming he meant the bushings, I dunno. I only get the DW between 40 and 50mph, or if I hit a pothole at 35-50. I have found though that if I drive in 4wd all the time, it doesn't do it as often and it corrects itself rather than getting worse. I have yet to replace the trac bar so I don't know if this is what is causing the DW. The steering stbilizer being replaced helped the problem a little, and the alignment helped a little too, but did not cure it. I am getting the TB replaced soon. If it resolves the problem, i'll let you know.
