Hey guys, how many of you are running these on the rear? Did you have ot modify them at all to fit? How much length did you gain from these? Any other comments?

Thanks,
Chris

I just got mine about a month ago. I installed them, but I ended up taking them off because my rear shocks are bad, so I didn't want to screw anything up.

I bought them because my rear flex is severely limited by my shocks. The one day I tested them, they worked, but only, at most, 2" more than the stock brackets.

I had to use a grinder to get my shocks to fit in the mount.

I used to run them. They gained me about 1.25" of length on the shocks.
I loved them since the were like little shackles and really contibuted to articulation.

On a 96-98 ZJ, no modification/fabrication is neccessary, but I think it might be a little tougher to make them fit an earlier ZJ.

Do you mean Tera p/n RST, the 'L' shaped cast part that moves the bottom mount back and up?

On my 96 I needed to remove .300" of material off the bottom to make the large bolt line up. This is why they are sold for the TJ and not ZJ. Once installed, they fit fine and did move the shock body away from the spring perch which is really what the part is for. Trouble is, by moving the shock up you are loosing articulation. I wound up with about 3" compression after installing the adaptors.

Bottom line is they were not worthwhile as while they solved one problem they created another. I have a ZJ ready set if anyone is interested.

If your shocks are too short all around (extended and compressed lengths), they solve that problem.

What did you expect, that they were going to INCREASE the actual travel amount of your shocks?

I and many others have found them to be a great addition with say, OME LT shocks at around 5" lift or so.

And FWIW, mine took NO fabrication. They just bolted right up. I left out the bot that comes up through the bottom though.....which let them swivel a little--another added feature that worked very well for me.

In response to your wiseass comment, I expected them to move the shock back which they did. I also expected them to INCREASE the downward travel of the shock. However, the part was not dimensioned as to how far up it moved the part so I took a wild chance on a $15 part. I am happy for you that you are satisfied with your purchase.

Sorry dude. Not meant like that at all.

Just that you came off like they were worthless when they are, in fact, not at all worthless.

Hey Chris go get a set from Nick and bring them down on the 25th. We can make them fit, no problem with a grinder and welder :)
