: A/C recharge?

My AC is dead, AGAIN. I had it recharged at the dealer to the tune of 100 bucks last summer, and they didn't find any leaks. Hmmm.

Anyway, forget that, I'll just do it myself this time around. Even if I have to do it every summer, it's cheaper than actually fixing it.

So, what I'm wondering is, if I buy the bottle of R134 that they sell at Wal Mart with the hose on it, do I have to buy an adapter? Or is the fitting on the ZJ a standard size compatible with Ford and GM?

Also, where is the low pressure fitting located?

Thanks for any info.

The kit you get from walmart should have the hose with the proper quick coupling. Low pressure fitting on the ZJ is near the radiator overflow bottle. Passnenger side back of engine compartment. I used a can of leak finder that had some stopleak or something in it and it has been fine for 2 yrs now.

Your leak is most likley the evap. As far as charging yourself, the adapter with the kit will work, but it's not easy to get the charge right without a set of gauges. If your charge is completely gone, you cannot recharge it without a full evacuation.

Be careful not to overcharge, a little is okay, but if you put in a major overcharge you will trash your compressor.

Good luck
