Troy in tahoe

What are you guys with the 8.8 or 9" rears doing for control arm brackets? Do you have a source for new ones? Are you cutting off the old ones and welding them on?
Same question for the rear trackbar.
After I break my welded 35c a couple of times I will probably swap out my rearend and was curious. I called RE and they don't have anything. Troy in Tahoe
I'm fabbing my own from 1/4" plate. The only thing I'm up against as far as not wanting to deal with fabrication are the spring perches. One of the custom axle company's (Currie or Dynatrac,) uses RE bracketry for the TJ and slightly modifies the spring perch to work with the ZJ. If I have no other alternative, I'll see about getting a pair of TJ spring perches from them.

Jay, you can go to Olympic. They always seem to have a few junk D30's in the scrap bin. You could use those. Cut away the shock mounts if needed.
TJ rear coil buckets are huge!! Let me know what the fix is to use the ZJ coils.
Also, you might see if 4wp has a P/N for the individual coil buckets from the YJ coil conversion kit.
They use the same diameter coils as the ZJ's

Thanks Mike - I hadn't even considered the possibility of using the buckets from a front d30  Just called Blaine and he said to come on down, I'd probably find some. Sweet

Jay, if you can find me a 2 clean sets of D30 front coil buckets, I'll give you that winch cable I have.
Let me know. Also, look in the scrap bin. When they have a bent or thrashed axle, they scrap it, and will more than likely give it to you.

Guys you can easily make coil buckets. escpecially if you are already making all the other brackets two more circles will not be hard to cut out.
IMO anyway.
like a 4 inch circle with the appropriat amount of schedule 80 in the center to keep the spring centered and provide the correct bumpstop location.
Us 2x2 radius'd at to the axle diameter to mount the circles to the axle. Shoot you can even build in your own lift if you want. Not all that hard with a little thought.

I'm gonna cut mine off. I'm in the process of finding an 8.8 right now. I think I found a 97 possi for $350.

Well, I just found a complete set of rear tubes at Olympic , so I'll be taking most of the stock bracketry off them and modifiying it to fit my needs. I think I'll move the lower arm mounting points and shock mounts though.

PS. Mike: they had non in the scrap bins or I woulda picked you some up. I almost had them shop up and existing housing to get the fronts, but then the guy (Dan?) remmebered he had these things lying around.
