ok i thought my rotors were warped because when i applied the brakes the entire vehicle shudderd.
i just put 200 dollar rotors on the front and on the way to my girlfriends the vehicle shuddered without me even touching the brakes. I have looked at the tires while they are doing it and its like they are going to fall off. Really kinda scary now so anyhelp, could it be steering? could tires wearing unevenly do this. my vehicle is not lifted and runs 235's for tires.

Does it bind when turning a corner with the steering wheel all the way to lock in a dry paved parking lot after this happens? Do you have the np249 quadratrac?

i have the 242 transfer case, when you say bind do you mean crow hop or what?

It sure could be caused by uneven tire wear. Maybe bad tie-rod ends?, ball joints? a bad hub and bearing assembly? A loose track bar?
Check these things out first!

Yes I meant crow hop or what ever you called it. But I was heading down the path of a bad viscious coupler but unless you have your 242 in full time 4wd then I don't think it should matter, however I have never had a 242 apart so I cant say for sure.

Only when you brake? Not when you accelerate? Then I say check your U-joints. Especially the drive shaft U-joint. Check it now because it's a cheap fix before it gets too bad or snaps.
You can check it yourself. Crawl on under your vehicle and grab the driveshaft on the end that connects to your diff. Try to shake it. If it is at all clunky then replace it today.

alright it has sorta went away with the replacement of the front rotors and pads, sorry if i mislead but yeah it did do it when i would be accelerating, especially if it had started to a little. I will check my driveshaft but dont think it is that because i have had one go bad already so i sorta know what that feels like

Bearing baby. Lift one tire off the ground and see if you can wiggle the tire. THere shouldn't be any play in there.

Sounds like a case of Death Wobble to me. I haven't had it, but apparently lots of people have. Search on the jeepsunlimited.com GC forum for DW or death wobble and you will get a million returns. A summary of them says to tighten all of the suspension components, especially any that you have touched before, grease everything and if that doesn't work, try replacing busing in the suspension.
Check it out over there, lots of people have tried different things, to varrying degrees of success.

alright guys everything is fixed. 4 new rotors+pads, greased everything and checked steering box,and all the rest of the goodies.
IT WAS THE TIRES!!! I left my tires on a *ahem* little bit past when they are supposed to be rotated so now the two rear ones are no good to be up front, so alas i put them in the back and everything is good. Doesnt matter much i am gettin new ones anyway. Thanks for all the help on this post guys, at least i know certain things are up to par and my jeep needed a good lookin over anyways
