I was considering Rusty's for my 97 ZJ. Glad I read this first.

I've got a 2000 Cherokee with Rustys 6.5" long arm kit, and all their skid plates. I had no problems with the lift install and so far I love it both on road and off, it rides smooth, steady, and flexes great. Their steering system however was horrible, I ended up taking it off and putting the stock steering arms back on.

i got a rustys 3" kit about 6 years ago it fit perfect. i had no issues installing the kit, but i guess just some basic knowledge on suspensions helped me out. flex is outstanding. i have called over the years and asked different questions about his products and about installs and have nothing but good things to say about rusty and his staff. im getting ready to go long arms and i will buy from rustys again. i am a happy customer. sorry you had so many problems maybe you caught someone on a bad day. it happens to all of us.

Third, what Rusty's does not mention on the webpage for the ZJ 3" Basic Kit, and what they fail to mention when you order it is that if you dont also buy an adjustble front trac bar, the front of the Jeep sits atleast 2" off center of the front axle housing. So you have the drivers side tire sticking out 2", and the passenger side tire sucked in 2". Sweet!

1sr when you are doing a lift on ANY vehicle you should figure out what things are required for a lift of that size and what problems lifting will create.

2nd If you have problems with Rusty's take it up with them via PM you not paying attention to what you buy is your problem and this isn't the place to deal with it.

Yeah, from what I have been hearing, my experience has not been typical of what other customer have had. Maybe a second chance in th future is worth a try.

1st: You just proved my point. You DO need to know what things are required for a lift that size and problems lifting will cause. Thats why I would think the experts at Rustys might have mentioned. Pay attention, I am not mad at Rustys that I need an adjustable front trac bar. Thats plain geometry. Should I have seen it coming? In hind sight .... yes. Is it completely inappropriate for me to think that is something that can and should be discussed when ordering......no.
The Vendor is selling you what you wanted, a cheap, basic lift. YOu can get the same stuff from many different vendors, RE included. I got my first lift from RE and had to up grade BOTH trackbars because they weren't adj. Thats part of the game. If you want cheap, expect cheap.

2nd: If you read the post, I did take it up with Rustys..personally. On the phone. And this is precisely the place for people to share their information, experiences, knowlegde, and .......OPINIONS. Thats with this forum is all about. Good and bad. So settled down, have fun, and talk about Grand Cherokees, parts, trails, vandors, and your experiences instead of looking for a fight. Because thats not what the website is about.

This is the VENDORS GROUP BUY/SPECIALS section, your drama belongs in the ZJ/WJ lounge or the newbie forum...

For the record I have never owned anything rusty's...
