1993GrandCherokee 12-15-2009, 05:57 AM Installing the 8.8 rear i picked up this past weekend, rough country 4" lift i hope, custom front bumper maybe
Hope to do a 8.8 swap, I've got a D30 with a TrueTrac and 4.88 gears I'd like to get on also. Still need some front tow points too.
Mr. Brass 12-15-2009, 07:14 AM Haha, another for the 8.8. But I will probably and up tossing that and doing a 60/44 combo. New motor for sure and hopefully get more body damage from pushing the limits even further. :)
2Grands4Fun 12-15-2009, 08:00 AM well, like alot of others, I'll be doing a 8.8 swap, but I won't install it until I get some 4.56's and lockers installed..
Custom made rockers
custom rear bumper with tire carrier
new treads.. probably go with 33 inch KM2's
Neoncrazy101 12-15-2009, 10:06 AM I plan on giving my Jeep lots of money in repairs.
hokie98zj 12-15-2009, 10:38 AM i was talking about mods really.i didnt list all the repairs i will be sinking money into
Colorado 5.9 12-17-2009, 02:14 AM Hummm? Install the ATI Super Charger I got in June. Ran into an Intercooler problem this fall so I gave up untill spring.
Install the Varad LED rock lights I got a couple of months ago.
Maybe I might get a new rebuilt/BUILT 46re too. The one in there now is getting kind of old. It will probably not be happy after the SC is in. :D
EnriqueI 12-17-2009, 06:42 AM redoing my CAI, dual batt setup, and hopefully front and rear bumpers. Other than that I think I'll be done. It's already lifted, and I can't think of a reason to go more hardcore than that.
paitently waiting for my front bumper to get finished. Should be early next month. So that takes care of front bumper and winch.
Rocker protection
rear bumper w/tire carrier
Tires time for 32 or 33" tires.
Would like to do longarms. However I'm still on the fence on that one.
Raise lifted height up another inch.
axle swap out back and possible the front as well.
Long list but the order of the list is the prefered order.
EnriqueI 12-17-2009, 08:18 AM Hey DanB, do you think I'd notice an inch more when it comes to tires? I'm currently running 31s and haven't experienced any rubbing. I have a 2" budget lift on my ZJ currently.
I did the BB lift with 31" tires for about 6months. Only rubbing I had was with the front bumper. Some quick work with the jig saw took care of that. I also had my bumpstops extended a bit.
I should add to my list. regearing will be on the list right before tires.

Yeah the guy before me took care of the front bumper. Did you try 32s with the BB lift? I'm wondering if, when I get new tires (The tires on there are pretty new... only have maybe 1,000 miles on em), I should try out 32s. Is there a noticable difference?

Depending on the width.. I have 32x11.5's with a 4 inch lift and heavy bumper trim front and rear, and I still rub at full flex.. (I need to do some bumpstop work still) I also have 4 inch backspacing on a 8 inch wide rim..
You might be okay if you stick with a 10.5 width tire, but there is quite a difference between a 31 and a 32.. Its do-able, just depends on how sawzall happy you want to get..
Good luck

The tires are currently a 10.5... Which do you think would be better? 32x10.5 or 31x11.5? Please keep in mind i'm a newbie. :)

I've never seen a 31x11.5 but that doesn't mean they aren't out there.. But I have seen 32x10.5 and 32x11.5..
Depending on where/what kind of offroading you're doing, will determine what width of tire you want:
For mud bogging or just really deep muddy trails you'll want to stick to the skinnier tires because they will dig down through the mud to the hard packed dirt.
For sand, snow (not ice), or rocks, you'll want the wider tires to keep a larger contact area with the tire.. (you'll float on top of the sand and snow)
Hope this helps
rho95zj 12-17-2009, 11:37 AM Putting a new trans in, maybe new CA's, maybe some mcniel Racing flares/ hood vents.

I go to school in the central coast of california -- so I'll be driving mostly on sand, and some snow when I go up in tahoe. How much of a rubbing difference would I get on 32x11.5 and 31x10.5? Would I use spacers or something to eliminate some of the rubbing?
2Grands4Fun 12-17-2009, 11:45 AM It's all going to depend on the backspacing on your rims.. I don't know much on how to figure on that.. Some of the other guys on here are really good with knowing the difference with backspacing and size of tires.. I run 4 inch backspacing with my 32x11.5's and I broke off both of my bumpstops, so they've crinkled my fenders a little..

hokie98zj 12-21-2009, 08:31 PM a winch is the next thing on my list.could have used one earlier pulling someone out when my recovery strap made it a pain being 30' long.
96JGCL 12-21-2009, 10:28 PM finish my custom rear bumper

Swap HPd30 for LPd30
Budget boost

dbabicky93 12-21-2009, 11:46 PM Install the 1995 motor I just bought from the Junk-yard into my 1993. Get rid of those $hitty bumper covers. Attempt to build my own tube bumpers. With my luck, I'll install this motor and the tranny will take a $hit. Maybe tear the back seats out completly.(never use them) If we go anywhere as a family we take the wife's 95 Limited. We'll see what else I can tear up.
