I got a lot of requests for more pics and info on my Half Doors.

I cut out the pieces with a jug saw which made quick work of it. I then welded in some 10 gauge sheet metal. Used some late Cherokee interior door handles. Just had to make new connecting rods for the locks to handles. All the electric door locks work like normal. I added some Pyle 100w marine speakers to all 4 doors. Removed the door hinge pins and replaced them with wire lock pins. Can swap all 4 doors in about 10 minuets. Power heated mirrors work also. I like'em. If you have any questions or want more info let me know.

That is BA man!!! how did you do all the wiring disconnects? factory harness or something different? Looks killer on your rig. I thought that the doors were and integral part of our Uni-body's though.... maybe I'm wrong. Does that help a whole lot on the trail?

I just use the factory disconnects for the harnesses. Easy to get to them. The concusses is that the doors are not a major factor in the WJs regitity. The WJ has better body stiffness than does the ZJ or XJ. I like to easily look out jeep to see where the tire and body is at any given point while wheeling.

good job.

Yeah that is coming soon along with vinyl or canvas snap in lowers for the half doors.

Thanks.

I'm sure it can be done with a ZJ. I just pulled the panel off and looked inside and saw haw far I could cut and keep the harness. Then it was just cutting and welding.

The original door harness is in the doors. I just plugged the mirrors, Drivers door control panel, lock and spliced the speaker connector. WJs have a quick disconnect plug at the door jam. So I just unplug the connector and pull the pins, swap the doors and plug the connector back in. Not sure what connector the ZJs have. You will have to look or ask a ZJ guy.

Pulling up a dead thread but man these doors are sweet! I've been wanting to do something of this sort for my ZJ, there's nothing like that open feeling!
