Figured I would post this over here for the rest of us zj guys.

I picked up a winch and since my ARB is a non winch model I decided that to modify it would not accomplish what I wanted and I didn't think the mounting points were strong enough nor did it offer the kind of approach I was looking for. So I broke out the tools, tape, welder, and started learning how to use autocad. I haven't had much time to work on it but I get to sneak out to the garage before work and if I get a minute for lunch.

My goals were to have it stick out as little as possible, offer a better approach angle, include shackle mounts, raise everything up a bit, and move stuff from in front of the wheels so I could corner in better.

It started out like this after I stripped off the ARB.

I added Kevins radiator support to free up some room underneath and protect the radiator.

I then broke out the plasma cutter and cut off everything I though I didn't need and knotched the edges so I could run a unibody tie in down the side.

I used a piece of 2x6 and cut out the back to leave a piece that would mount to my existing unibody/bumper. Cut down a piece of 2x6 for the main platform. Cut up some 2x2 to make the supports.

Did a little more work to it. Added the side plates, ground some of the stuff down just to pretty it up.....not enough to effect how strong they are and checked that the winch would fit still. I still need to add the unibody tie ins and the roller mount. Getting close though.

I decided to not put a post mount for the roller. I didn't like how far out it put the roller and after looking at how strong it would be once the rollers are in it, I decided it would act just like a big hung of steel. I welded it to the bumper and I'm going to just put a small gusset behind it and a small skid up to the part that sticks furthest out.

Welding 3/16 plate to the unibody was a challenge. I finally got the hang of it though and ran some nice beads. I need to cut into a few of the poor ones and run a new line on it.

you welded the bumper directly to the uni? It is best to stitch weld plate onto the uni ;) Looking good, let us know how it works!

The whole bumper is basicaly plate.....I welded it in small stitches.

I went out and winched the living daylights out of my truck about a week later. It pulled like a champ and drug a 30 front with two exploded shafts off a black trail without much trouble. It's solid.
