i've been to several hardwear stores, home depot, lowes, can't find bolt to fit. next size smaller is 8mm, too small ,it's like this bolt size does not exist. I have had to drill holes out a few times with things I have purchased...Sometimes they don't account for the thickness of paint / poweder coating / chrome when drilling holes into raw material. This could be your problem.

There is a local nuts and bolts place here that has everything...but I would probably just drill it out to fit the 10 mm bolt they gave you, would that work?

. . . or you could use 3/8" bolts.

They are bigger than 8 mm and smaller than 10 mm (9.525 mm to be exact).
