I'm in the market for a winch and I've decided on the Warn M8000 to put under my ARB bull bar. Does anyone have any pros or cons on which cable I should get? I'm leaning towards a synthetic cable and a Hawse fairlead, but I'd like a few opinions.

Thanks

Dave

I definately side on the part of safety. Synthetic does not "store" energy, therefore is less likely to snap back with lethal force. You also do not have to worry about wire blurs, kinking, and such.

I'll never use steel cable on a winch again, synthetic is much safer and easier to work with.

I keep reading great stuff about synthetic, it seems too good to be true.

synthetic does have some downfalls. for instance, it is susceptable to damage from heat. Also burrs on your fairlead or using your winch line across tree or rock cause premature wear and failure. Also, the sun(UV rays) actually deteriorates the line. i intend on keeping mine covered when not in use to protect it from that.
