I know I'm not the only one around here with car seat bound kids. Does anyone have any tips on how to safely install a seat without crushing the seat? The ones in my ZJ are absoluely ruined and I don't want to do the same to my WJ.

Go to a baby store and purchase the pads that go under the seat. It also goes up the seat back. I'll post a link if I find one.

A towel works great under the car seats. Saved the leather in the WJ.

Yea, I would use a towel, a nice heavy Cannon bath towel, you could probably find it in a pretty close color match too..

yah, but if they're butter knives...
depending on your car seat base, you won't have any problems. they recommend not to put anything like a towel between a carseat and leather, as it reduces the friction that helps keep the seat in place.
99% of carseats (that i would trust enough to put my baby in) are engineered with your car in mind as well as your baby's a$$.

use a pool noodle under the car seat.
