Good call Seed.

I played "Fade to Black" at a bud's house last night.

He and his drummer smoke.....and I don't, so I'm pretty tore up right now.

In ref to another's slam post against The Cure: I like them, I like a lot of different music, and make no apologies for it.

Kate Bush, Sarah Mclachlan, Vienna Teng, Tori Amos, The Human League (hey, way back the brunette was a little turbo prop like Martha Quinn- old MTV VJ..........if you're old enough to remember that then you understand ;-)

I even have Sigur Ros...............like to be mellow now and then.

Could be some Swinging Utters, Machine Head, Genitorturers, Cruxshadows, MCR, Diary of Dreams, The Dresden Dolls (hey they do have a Jeep song ;-) and their version of Warpigs is pretty cool).........heck, some tribal stuff from Sepultura might be just the ticket for today.

But first I have to burn a copy of my friend's music, folk pickin' "ring ding ding ding ding" stuff with some slide. Not my cup o' tea, but my bud was super cool.........and some other buds of mine had met him, so I'm passing along some of his tunes.

This to some Black Dahlia Murder/Arch Enemy thrasher metal heads.

Even they appreciate cool people and or decent talent.

FTR

one of my FAVE albums is Type O Negative's "October Rust". Maybe a bit slow, think Beatles meets Black Sabbath, but very layered/textured, after hundreds of spins with headphones it's still very enjoyable (either in combination or listening to a single performer through the album).

I also have Gary Numan's "Exile". Pretty dark, in subject matter and feeling. Good album, very good indeed...........but not applicable to any position I'm in at the moment= not worth listening to right now.

I think that a major thing.......that people should listen to an album more than once, probably at least 3 times, spread out over a wide period of time, so that different mindsets/moods won't overshadow what's going on.

One last thing, from last night, got a good laugh watching Mindcrime at the Moore.......bonus material, with RJD singing live.........friggin looked like that puppydog dragon from that movie "The Neverending Story".

Too funny.

Christina Scabia from Lacuna Coil is a hottie IMHO, and she sings OK, but lacks a true wicked metal range.

BTW I couldn't stand that chick from Nightwish- look or style/sound.

And it sucks, that Liv Christine Espeneas of Theatre of Tragedy is now with her husband doing crappy Viking goth metal in "Leaves Eyes". I do like her voice on old ToT stuff, like it a lot actually, but it's too different and limited to be up front for a whole song.

IMHO the gal for Otep looks like Gen from the Genitorturers all shiny/inky and new.

I dunno, am spinning Violet from The Birthday Massacre now, some decent but simple tunes on it, like the overall sound, and the chick singer is decent.

Chubby gal, in the old "Video Kid" live video........she does that look and hip bump stuff.........like only chubby girls can do. Nothing nasty, just a timing deal, subtle...........that is pretty hot.

(does this then mean I should add more lift to my ZJ.......to avoid possible chubby chick invasion?)

Ahh Machine Head. "Let freedom ring with the shotgun blast!" But I still hate The Cure...and Christmas music.

MachineHead puts on a decent show. Saw them with Gojira,Trivium and Lamb of God some time back...this on the Blackening tour.

The double disc with live footage............I was disappointed.

The live show I saw was so much better.

Gojira did a great job too.

Trivium I didn't care for, was just so-so. LoG? I walked out 1/3 through their set. Mix sucked, atmosphere choking.............plus being at a small venue, it was like I had been standing next to non stop .50BMG fire for 4 hours.

I'd had enough.

The Blackening is a good album, but the live show I saw was even better than the studio version.

Guess I might have gotten a treat.

If I'd have bought the double CD/DVD, seen the performance footage I wouldn't have gone to see them.

With that, I've never seen Maiden have a bad night, but...............that means even they get a bit old after a while.

Well the thing about LoG is that if you listen to any of their CDs then you'd know Chris is just as loud and up front as Mark and Willie. Oh yea their new album drops on the 24th of this month! Whee!

Anyone seen what Marty Friedman has been up to lately? I saw an interview with him on a local tv program then youtube'd him. All I can say is wow. How the hell do you go from Megadeth to......Jpop?? Ah crap. Now he's got me listening to that stuff too (mainly for the chicks....Morning Musume and Nana Kitade and Yoko Ishida...ummm). Seeing the clips of his show Rock Fujiyama was pretty entertaining as well. Kerry King looked sooo out of place. He must'a been saying to himself, "WTF am I doing here?"

Bwahahahahahah! Sheryl Crow friggin' BUTCHERED that song when she did a cover of it.

She did the same thing to D'Yer Maker. She needs to have her vocal cords removed or at least partially so shell sound like Lewis Black's a-hole.

Not sure if anyone's an Incubus fan but "The Warmth" and "Aqueous Transmission" have been on the playlist recently
